World Series of Beer Pong 6 - Day 3 (Pookcast Episode 18)

With a 5-7 record we obviously were not good enough to make the playoffs on Day 3. In fact, I haven't made the playoffs since the last time that I played with Hummel at WSoBP II. So for the last few days I have used Day 3 to get drunk and check out Las Vegas. I've been to Vegas almost a dozen times now, so there's not really much more to see. So I decided instead to hang out in the room and do nothing. Kind of a wasted way to spend the day if you ask me, but at the time I was tired as shit and really didn't feel like moving around. Eventually I got off my ass and fulfilled my yearly goal of eating at In-N-Out Burger. This video I took at night recounts my Day 3 of the World Series. I hope that I recalled all of the events that happened that day, but to be quite honest with you if I didn't remember all of them I have no memory whatsoever, because I really didn't do much that day. But all is well that ends well, and a bad day in Las Vegas is better than a good day back in Milwaukee when I'm stuck at work. Thanks again for sticking with me through another World Series of Beer Pong, and since I've already decided to go back for Year VII, I will start practicing at an earlier date so that I can be ready this year. I will return to the playoffs on Day 3 or my name isn't Iceman! Later dudes.

World Series of Beer Pong 6 - Day 2 (Pookcast Episode 17)

After going 2-4 on Day 1 I wasn't very optimistic about Day 2. We would have to go 4-2 just to finish with a .500 record, and would have to win all of our games to finish at 8-4 and have an outside chance of reaching Day 3. So while making the Playoffs wasn't going to be easy, finishing at 6-6 seemed to be an achievable goal. But after losing the first game of Day 2 my hopes were dashed that we could put up a respectable record. But we got our shit back together and won the next two games before dropping another two, then won mthe last game of Day 2 to finish on a high note. So Hummel that Shit closes out the WSoBP VI with a 5-7 record and -20 cups or something, which was "good" for a 324th place finish. But we were still in good spirits, as you can see from this video of Hummel and I recounting our experiences from Day 2.

World Series of Beer Pong 6 - Day 1 (Pookcast Episode 16)

When I woke up this morning Lethal Weapon was on TV, which made me think of Danny Glover's line, "I'm getting to old for this shit." Let me state for the record that I'm glad that I'm here and I'm also having a great time. But Hummel that Shit finished with a 2-4 record and have little to no chance of making the playoffs. What ever. That's a story in itself that I will write at another time. Mainly I was feeling pretty old this morning because my body is all kinds of sore from walking, drinking and not sleeping. I'm feeling more and more like an Old Man every day that I'm out here, and I don't think that I can handle Vegas they way that I used to. Granted I'm not hung over this morning because I sobered up well before bed time, but I'd be lucky if I got 5 hours of sleep last night. I usually average around 6 hours a night back home, but back home I don't subject my body to this kind of abuse. I wouldn't be surprised if my body was pissed off at me and decide to give up on me. Despite having an asshole, I don't think that my body is one, so I have a good chance of making it through the day still standing. So while while I'm struggling to stay alive out here (in more ways than one) check out a recap of Day 1 in this video. Thanks for all the support and I just want to let you know that I won't let you down. (but please have some low standards and be understanding. Also be gentile...)

World Series of Beer Pong 6 - Drunk in Las Vegas (Pookcast Episode 15)

This is the 6th time that I am out in Nevada for the World Series of Beer Pong. We always arrive here on the 1st of January, but the tournament doesn’t start up until the 2nd. For me that means the first day is a day when I am able to get drunk and enjoy Vegas, which usually involves me walking around on the Strip with some form of malt liquor in my hand. This year my choice would be Steel Reserve because I saw a toothless degenerate wandering around drinking one and he looked like he was having a good time. In fact, I would go on to say that this bastard was my hero, even though he was someone that you certainly would not look up to in normal circumstances. But the streets of Las Vegas are anything but normal, especially when a lunatic like me is wondering around vocalizing his thoughts for all to hear. When I started the Pookcast I meant it to be the audio version of this blog so that you could hear the tone of my voice and see my non-verbal reactions when I'm talking, which are two things you just can't get from reading written word. So here is me drunk in Las Vegas doing an episode of the Pookcast. Tournament play begins today so wish me luck. I know I'm going to need it this year. I'm definitely on the wrong side of my beer pong career, and we basically need to catch lightning in a bottle or have drunken recall take effect to do well out here. Later dudes.

Pookcast Episode 14 - World Series of Beer Pong 6

I tried so hard to retire from beer pong. I've been playing for about 8 years now and decided to call it quits after the World Series of Beer Pong 5, which took place in Las Vegas in January 2010. After failing to make the playoffs (Day 3) for the 3rd consecutive year with Joey Kanz as my partner (while compiling a personal WSoBP worst record of 5-7), I figured I was on the decline and I should hang it up before I embarrass myself any further. And for the most part I was ok with life without beer pong. I played in a satellite tournament in Green Bay back in February (faithful visitors of Pookon's Ill Blog will remember that as the night that I recorded the "Fat Teen Wolf" episode of The Pookcast), then I played with Brodey and Aaron at a bar back in June or something and then one more time about a month or two ago. So I have only played beer pong 3 times this year, and only one of them was in a competitive setting. That sounds like retirement to me. Then I was working on the Pookon.com WSoBP 5 story. And I got nostalgic. Then one drunken night I was worrying about turning 30 next year, and how I don't feel comfortable wearing khakis (like I do at my day job) and how I much I love the beer pong community because I am accepted there. So I decided to sign up for the WSoBP 6. I also had to fulfill a promise that I made to Hummel one drunken night earlier in the year when I told him I would be his partner at the WSoBP if he couldn't find anyone else to play with. So all of that brings us up to date

The following occurred after a long night of drinking with former CHBPL members Brodey, Lorge, Casey, Denise, Aaron, Charlie, Felicia and TJ. When I got home I was a sad drunk and I poured my heart out a little bit and realized how much I really did love the WSoBP and beer pong in general. So check out the videos below if you want to see my softer side. If you think I'm just a whiny little pansy that never amounted to anything, then your viewpoints will be validated by watching this. Some of you might watch this and fall in love with me all over again, just like you did in Last Cup. And most of you don't give a shit. Whatever it is, thank you once again for spending time with me via the Pookon Empire. Later dudes.

Pookcast Episode lucky #13 (actually 11) - Tommy's 21st Birthday

People only turn 21 once in their lives. Unless you are able to somehow buck the aging trend or get caught in some bizarre time loop like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. I happen to have found another way to keep turning 21. Normally I wouldn't share a secret this cherry, but this one is rather obvious - just party like you are turning 21. And the easiest way to do it is hang out with kids on their 21st birthday and get as drunk if not drunker than they get. Normally this is sad and pathetic, but my 21st birthday really sucked. So I vowed to make all of the remaining 21st birthdays that I attend better than my own. On July 20 (which was a Tuesday) I drove out to Madison to take my cousin Tommy out for his 21st. I took lots of pictures on my cell phone that have sadly been lost due to faulty technology, but after a night out at the bar, Tommy and I recorded an episode of the Pookcast. Keep in mind that it is about 3am and I had been drinking since around 630pm. But for me that's just like every other day. But this day was special because Tommy was here to bull shit with me. And it turned out to be a great ending to a pretty fantastic night.

Part 1

Part 2

I apologize for taking like 3 months to get this on here, but I just never got around to it. I know that I promised to do the Pookcast on at least a monthly basis, but as you can see I don't really get around to updating the blog too much during the summer months. I know it's a poor excuse, but I really need to be in the right mood and mindset to add content here. But now that episode lucky #13 (really #11) is up, I am currently looking for subject matter and people to join me in the next episode of the Pookcast. You know how to reach me. Be a part of history and comic gold. Take care of yourselves.

Pookcast Episode 10: The Sports Edition with Brian

I had originally intended to a sports episode of the Pookcast with my brother James when I went to visit him in South Carolina back in November of 2009. He declined to participate, saying that he wasn't comfortable with appearing on the internet for everyone to see. As you know from visiting pookon.com, pookon's ill blog and my twitter site, I live my life in the public eye and don't give a shit about what people think about me. I had a laundry list of questions that I wanted to ask him. Questions like, "How hard is it to follow your favorite teams (Brewers, Packers, Bucks) when you are living in a different state?" "Is it difficult to start following a new team (in South Carolina all they care about is the University of South Carolina Gamecocks) and getting accustomed to reading about them in the newspaper and hearing about them on the radio?" I've lived in Milwaukee for my whole life except for the 2 years that I spent in college at UW-Oshkosh. And even when I was there all of the sports coverage was about the Packers and Brewers, so it was just like being in Milwaukee. So I really wanted to get his opinion on all of this, but he wouldn't sit down and talk with me. So I turned to Plan B - my cousin Brian. No one is as opinionated as he is and more passionate about Wisconsin sports. Brian was more than willing to sit down with me and talk sports. We covered a lot in this short 20 minute time period, and I know that we could have gone on for hours but there's no way you would have sat and watched that. I'm surprised if you actually watch this shit. But if you make to the end you will get an extra special treat that I'm sure you weren't expecting and that you definitely will be fortunate to receive. You're welcome. Enjoy Episode #10 of the Pookcast, and stay tuned to the Pookon Empire for more exciting content in the future.

Pookcast: Episode 9 - Fat Teen Wolf

Part 1 of this episode sees me stammering over the events of today's WSoBP VI Satellite tournament up in Green Bay. It was about 7:30 pm at night, and I was already wasted. I went outside by my car to record this, and it was cold and snowy outside. I didn't care, so I just rambled on about about a range of topics from beer pong to the Brewers. It was my return to the Pookcast for the first time in over 6 weeks. It seems like on that night I finally had something to talk about.

Part 1

I was about to sign off and end this episode, because for I ran out of stuff to talk about. But then the booze grabbed a hold of me and a rant came spewing out. There's a million things that I could talk about, but for some reason that night I went off about wanting to be cast in Teen Wolf 3 : Fat Teen Wolf. There's not much more that I could add that I didn't already say in the video, so watch it and be amazed or stunned by my ramblings.

Part 2

I will continue to plead with you to help me in getting Teen Wolf 3: Fat Teen Wolf made. If we all call the heads of the movie studios and write letters, there's no way that they can avoid this forever. In the age of unnecessary sequels and remakes, someone has to put up some cash to make a 3rd Teen Wolf movie starring me. I can't promise to deliver the greatest movie known to man, but I can certainly promise that it will be as good if not better than half of the shit that comes out in the theaters these days. I know that we can do it, we just all have to work together for the greater good.

Pookcast - Episode 8: WSoBP V Wrap-Up

One of my main goals at the WSoBP was to get the guys together and recap each days events. But since we all did so poorly each day, I had to wait for the right moment to approach them about joining me for a taping of the Pookcast. That moment occurred the morning after Day 3 of the tournament, when we goofed around Vegas-style instead of playing beer pong. To be quite honest with you, I'm sure that all of us would've traded in our day of fun for a playoff berth and a shot at $50,000. But we did have tons of fun, and it was the only reason why I enjoyed my time out in Las Vegas. We sat down and goofed around, and I had to split the video into 3 parts because it was so long. We could talk for hours about our beer pong adventures, but hopefully this video gives you a taste of what it is like to be out there with us. If we decide to go back for WSoBP VI (the jury is still out on that one, and it will be for quite a while) we hope that you will join us and finally get to experience this beer pong event for yourself. Enjoy the Pookcast, and once again thank you for checking out all of the sites in the Pookon Empire. Your faithfulness will not go unrewarded. As soon as I can figure out how to reward you that is. Later dudes!

Pookcast - Episode 7: World Series of Beer Pong Day 1

I went back to my room after the events of Day 1 played itself out, and had a little time to reflect on the fact that N-Ice Kanz finished at 3-3. It's not great, but it's ok. If we make a run tomorrow we still can make the playoffs on Day 3. But we need to at least go 5-1 with a high cup margin or go 6-0 to guarantee a spot in the final bracket. So things are looking OK but not great. I vented a little and let my sillies out during this Pookcast, although you might think that I was too serious about the game of beer pong. Like it or not, beer pong is a sport and not just a recreational activity. Or at least for aging veterans like me. I've been there since the birth of the sport, and until now I've watched my baby develop into the behemoth it has become. This year may be my last, but if I get the feeling next year I may be back. That's the beauty of this game; you may give up on beer pong but beer pong will never give up on you. So I'll keep playing until I lose the love for the game. That has yet to happen, so stick with me for a few more games while I figure this shit out. Once again, thanks for visiting Pookon's Ill Blog, Pookon.com and all of the other sites in the Pookon Empire. Take care of yourself my friend.

Pookcast Episode 6 (Christmas)

In what looks like a new Holiday tradition, we filmed a new episode of the Pookcast on Christmas Day. I talk to so many people who can't stand going over to their relative's houses and try to avoid holiday gatherings. I don't understand that one bit, probably because my family is the coolest fucking family in the entire world. Not even the Wilsons (Owen and Luke), Sheens (Charlie, Martin and Emilio Estevez) or the Stillers (Ben and Jerry) are cooler than us, no matter what the movie going public thinks. Truth be told, I'd rather hang out with my family (Kevin included) than any of my friends. That's no slight against my friends at all, but just goes to show that my family rules. On Thanksgiving we filmed one of the most random episodes ever, so I tried to replicate that once again on Christmas. While you can never recreate that same kind of magic, Brian, Stacy, Stefani and I created a brand new beast. This episode once again featured a few not so surprise guests, and I hope you like it. I added a few new effects, so please be sure to leave a comment. And make sure you continue the adventure below with part 2. I hope you had a wonderful holiday season, and check back often for updates from the World Series of Beer Pong (January 1-5 2010) as I will be updating my blog and twitter page (twitter.com/pookondotcom) frequently. Enjoy the Pookcast. Later dudes.

Pookcast Episode 5 (Thanksgiving)

I promised my cousins that they could appear in an episode of the Pookcast, and Thanksgiving was the perfect time to get them involved. We were all together at Uncle Rick's house, and after dinner we had a few cocktails, and the rest is history. Go ahead and watch, but if you are offended by swear words or partial nudity, then please don't watch. The last thing that I need is some church group or a cadre of mothers tearing down my door trying to chase me out of town with torches and pitchforks. Save that shit for Frankenstein. So you have been warned. Once you press play there is no turning back, and I promise your life will be forever changed after that moment. It may be good or it may be bad, but it will be changed.

Pookcast Episode 4 (Beer Pong Edition) - Part 1

I went down to Columbia, South Carolina to visit my Brother James and his fiance Melissa. I had intended to do a Sports Edition of the Pookcast, but James respectfully declined. I had a lot of interesting questions to ask him, but he didn't want to be on camera. Although I don't understand why (because I live my life in the public eye of the internet courtesy of pookon.com, pookon's ill blog, facebook and twitter) but I have to respect his decision. So I film a Sports Edition later sometime featuring the one and only Brian Kurutz. But I did play some beer pong down there at this bar called SCHOONERS, and after coming come drunk decided to film a beer pong edition. So here is a beer pong edition of the Pookcast (because more editions will follow giving daily updates from the World Series of Beer Pong) for your enjoyment.

Pookcast Episode 3

I asked Timmy and Kevin to join me for Episode 3. There was no real structure or topic to this one, we basically just BS'd for a couple of minutes. Ok, so we BS'd for more than a couple of minutes. In that time span I learned that I could not BS a BSer, and that Timmy and Kevin are BS proof. Timmy was sitting over there, and Kevin was sitting over there, and I didn't know which way was up! And that is the most proper introduction that I can possibly give to this video. Enjoy Episode 3!

Pookcast Episode 2

So I just found out after watching the video as it appears on my blog that only 10 minutes of video was available. The video runs for about 14-15 minutes. My video hosting site only lets me do 10 minute videos, so I'll try to keep them around that length. That's probably not going to happen though, so I'll most likely have to split them up into 2 pieces like I did with this video. So enjoy Episode 2 of the Pookcast. Later dudes!
